CicLAvia: Culver City Meets Venice

Los Angeles has this awesome event called CicLAvia where streets are closed down to cars and open for people to walk, skate, bike, play, and explore! Eddie and I try to always go when they have our fave route through Culver City, Mar Vista, and Venice. Apparently, it's the country’s largest open streets event! It's always a super fun time, I love being able to ride my bike freely through a big open street without having to worry about getting hit by a car. It's also really cool to see the city through a different perspective - we're always in our cars here in LA, so riding bikes down the streets we're usually driving through is such a neat experience.

We started our ride in Culver City and made our way to Venice Beach for a picnic by the ocean. It was such nice weather, we just hung out on the grass under a palm tree and people watched.

After our picnic we got on our bikes and rode back to Culver - but not before stopping to take pics of the awesome wildflowers blooming in the Venice median!

There was a DJ camped out at a booth in one of the intersections that a crowd of people had parked their bikes in front of. It was a bike dance party! So fun, of course we stopped and joined.

Once we had ridden all the way back to Culver, we stopped at The Cannibal for some drinks and snacks - check out my Platform post HERE to learn more about this awesome place. After a 12 mile ride, those cocktails were very welcome!! Such a fun day, from beginning to end. Looking forward to the next CicLAvia event!
