Tenoverten
I love me some mani-pedi treat yo' self days, but I have to admit I've been becoming a bit tired of the nail salons in Los Angeles. I've visited so many, in constant search of the one that gets it right on all fronts. Whether it's trying to just get in the door of packed salons, or overworked nail artists rushing to finish me so they can take their next customer, or the awful fumes from all the chemicals, or just rough and unpleasant experiences - something was always a little off at each salon I went to. The highest level of #firstworldproblems, I know - a very, very minor annoyance in the grand scheme of things, but still a problem I wish I could solve. Then came Tenoverten. From the moment I walked in the door, I knew this salon was special.
First up - it's drop dead gorgeous inside. Minimalistic perfection, every detail is just right. From the wooden shelves lined with gorgeous polishes & adorbs little plants, to the white brick walls, black foot tubs and cozy armchairs, every nook is an interior lover's dream. Something else you notice right when you walk in? No stinky chemical fumes! Tenoverten offers more natural nail care alternatives than your average salon. All of their nail polish and nail care is rid of formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate (DBP), toluene, formaldehyde resin, camphor, ethyl tosylamide, xylene, and triphenyl phosphate (TPHP), making them 8-free. My favorite thing about their products is that they are also cruelty free, vegan, and made in the USA in a factory that honors the Leaping Bunny Program manifesto. This means that no animal testing is used in any phase of product development by the company, its laboratories or suppliers. How great is that?
Every time I visit Tenoverten I have such a wonderful experience. I'm not sure if I've just been lucky with the time of day I've happened to stop by, but I've never been there when it's packed - in fact there's only been a few other people in the salon at the same time as me, which gives it such a relaxed and calm feeling. My nail artists have always taken their time and do such a great job, I never feel rushed and always leave feeling happy.
Ten over ten - get it? I'm a lil embarrassed to say I totally did NOT get it until my 2nd visit - LOL.
I'm so happy to have found a place that not only is healthier, safer, and better for the environment than many salons out there, but also has an added bonus of being both beautiful and relaxing inside, never sacrificing great service.
