This was the room I was most excited to design in our new home, and I'm so happy with how it turned out! We didn't have a dining table at our old apartment, so being able to entertain family and friends here in the new house has been something I've been looking forward to. I'm so excited to be showing you our new offish redesigned living room! This was an especially fun lil project for me because I didn't buy any new furniture to create this new look - that's right, this is actually the same Ikea sectional we've had for years. The secret is these fab replacement slipcovers and wooden sofa legs from Comfort Works. Yaaaaaaas! If you need a refresher on what the space used to look like, take a peek below. 

A few weeks ago the super talented Elizabeth Wells came over for a viz to our new casa. It was a lazy Sunday morn and she was nice enough to snap some pics of Eddie and I doofin it up! Even though we still have a ways to go in the decorating/design process, I love how Elizabeth captured the spirit of our lil hobbit home. 

One of the things I was most excited about when we moved into our new house was having our own dining room. At our old apartment we ended up selling our dining room furniture and turning that space into Eddie's desk area/the entryway. Truth is, we hardly ever used the space when it was a dining room- and when you're living in 700 square feet you really need to utilize every inch available. We ate almost all our meals in the living room or at the kitchen brekky bar - the dining table just felt too formal for Eddie and I! But now that we're a little older, I've been thinking about how fun it would be to have a proper dining room. I'd love to have our friends over for brunches & dinner parties! (Not that being table-less stopped us from that before - don't forget about our annual Friendsgivings on the floor hehe) I'm pretty sure Eddie and I will still eat most of our dinners together at the coffee table watching TV, but I am super excited to design our new offish dining area. The moment I saw a pic of this darling Williamsburg studio on Airbnb, I knew I HAD to stay here. That exposed brick wall! The huge window! Those market lights! Hello dreamville. Not to mention the super fun touch of a projector instead of a TV, and also the drop dead gorge city views from the rooftop. Needless to say, I hit the "book" button reaaal quick. 

Just got back from a short trip to New York for a friend's wedding! Every time I visit my hometown in the Hudson Valley, I try to also visit NYC as it's only an hour and a half drive. Brooklyn is my fave place in the city, so much charm and magic. I just love the vibe and how everything is so walkable - I walked from my Airbnb to each of these shops in just a few hours. Even though I froze my butt off, it was actually v nice to be able to leave the house without having to jump in a car to get to where I needed to go. I don't know about you guys, but I love me some before/afters. I'm always so inspired to see how someone takes a bare, unattractive space and transforms it into something beautiful. I wanted to share with you some before/afters of our old apartment - but a backwards version! Since I don't have proper "before" pics from when we first moved in, I took a bunch of pics a couple weeks ago after we had moved all of our furniture out. So the "before" in this case is the space decorated, and the "after" is the empty room. Hope you enjoy! 

We're slowly but surely settling into our new house! There are still a few boxes lying around, filled with things we're not quite sure where to put yet - but we're getting there. Our house is nothing like the old apartment, so there are a lot of things that don't quite fit/work in the new space. The dining room is empty since we don't have any furniture for it yet, so it's pretty much been a holding ground for all the stuff we're still deciding what to do with. The room we've come farthest along with so far is our bedroom - lil sneak peek of it in the pic above. We get such beautiful sunlight in this room thanks to 3 windows, I'm in love! We haven't hung any curtains yet (all our old apartment curtains are the wrong dimensions) and 3 of the 4 walls are completely bare, so we still have a ways to go. I want our new house to be a bit simpler than our old place though - less clutter, more calm.
