Outside Lands 2017
Still coming down from the amaze weekend we had at Outside Lands Music + Art Festival in San Francisco! Any event where the setting is the gorgeous Golden Gate Park is A+ in my book. Our first time at this fest was last summer, Eddie and I only went for 1 day and we loved it so much we decided to do all 3 days this year. We were able to meet up with a bunch of friends there too, it was super fun running around and dancing with them.
I love how different this festival is from the others I've been to. It's so relaxed! There are no beer gardens, so you're not confined to one small space while you drink - you can bring your bevvies anywhere and everywhere. Super cool when you have a band you want to see that isn't right next to a beer garden. Loved being able to enjoy a drink while listening to the bands play! Also, Outside Lands lets you bring in DSLR cameras, unlike Coachella where you need a press pass. Eddie and I really enjoyed being able to capture moments from the weekend on our actual cam, instead of just our iPhones. Another thing that's different from other fests is the setting - it's so magical listening to music in the forest, surrounded by great big trees and colored lights. Dreamy!
My fave act by far was definitely Cage the Elephant - they actually were a last minute addition, when Queens of the Stone Age had to cancel their set. I'm so glad they were there, I've been wanting to see them live for a while and they did NOT disappoint. Played their best songs and kept the energy up the entire time. I danced like a certified loon to all their songs bahaha. And even though it was super chilly the whole weekend (it even rained Sunday!), the sun came out while they were playing and warmed us all up. I was able to shed my layers for an hour, then the sun went back behind the clouds and I was cold once again. Cold and happy though!
Some other acts I loved were Louis the Child, Schoolboy Q, Metallica, and Gorillaz - each extremely different genres of music, but all of them killed their sets. Ow ow!
