LA to NY Style

I usually travel to my home state of New York twice a year to visit family and friends, but this last trip was my first winter visit in a while! I hate the cold so I try and avoid those harsh winter months. Living in Los Angeles has spoiled me with the year round beautiful weather, but one of my good friends got married in NY on St. Patrick's day and I def couldn't miss it. I thought it would be fun to show you how I transition outfits from LA to NY, so I partnered up with MATTER to style one of their gorge outfits two ways.

MATTER is a Singapore-based brand focused on travel wear for the modern, globetrotting woman. I love this label because they connect true artisans with designers to create travel wear with rich, cultural stories to tell. I chose their Pyramid Top and Classic Wideleg Pant in Iching Jade Pearl - I'm absolutely obsessed with that stunning color and fun splatter pattern! Not to mention how comfy it is. The luxe Indian crepe silk feels soooo nice on your skin, plus it adapts to different climates. The silk keeps you cool in warm temperatures and warm in cold temperatures. The pants have deep pockets (so necessary for travel) in addition to a four-button closure - which means you can adjust how tight they are around the waist. Loose or snug, the choice is yours. I always appreciate having flexibility in the ways I can wear certain pieces.

My LA look I kept pretty simple. The top and pants paired with my trusty hat, Raybans, slip on mules, and pom bag. Since LA is pretty much in a state of forever summer, I have no prob incorporating a summery bag into my looks during winter. The ivory mules and beige fedora bring a sense of California cool style, and it's such nice weather right now I don't even need a sweater or jacket.

For my NY look, I wanted to keep it cozy. Who wouldn't when you're dealing with freezing temps! I paired my fave warm fuzzy coat with the MATTER top/bottoms and threw on a pair of lace up pointed toe black boots and my black Coach bag. Boots are a necessity when snow is on the ground ;) I had to ditch my trusty hat because it's so windy in NY it would fly right off my head!

I wanted my winter NY look to still feel fun and bright, so even though I paired it with black accessories, the creamy fuzzy coat brings lightness & texture to the look. Add some chunky turquoise rings and you've got a chic, comfy look that's perf for traveling.

And there you have it! What do you think of the two looks? Which one do you like best? Let me know in the comments!
