Beautiful Things LA

Beautiful Things-LA

I fell in love hard with the mobile boutiques we saw while visiting Portland, so you can imagine how happy I was to find out we have our own uhhhmazing mobile store right here in Los Angeles! And wow, is it gorge. Beautiful Things LA is the creation of mother-daughter team Susan Forrest-Reynolds and Lucia Reynolds, who purchased and renovated a 1991 Bluebird school bus to create some serious mobile magic. I was so happy to be able to chat with Lucia when I visited the bus over the weekend!

The bus is beautifully designed and decorated, and the items for sale inside are so wonderfully curated by Lucia. Each piece feels special and eclectic, all little works of art. Handmade jewelry, home goods, unique gifts, and much more are available on the bus, all befitting the shop's name - Beautiful Things! I also really love how Lucia and Susan support independent designers and artisans, and the fact that they're a mobile business means every Angeleno can experience the shop for themselves, no matter what part of town they live in.

The whole act of climbing aboard a huge school bus that's been transformed into a bright white, crisp storefront is such a fun experience! You don't expect the inside of the bus to look the way it does, so there is that element of surprise when you first enter the shop.

I'm a real sucker for anything indigo (as you can probably tell from my home), so it was love at first sight when I saw this Tensira tote bag. Lucia was able to tell me the story of where the bag came from, which is such a special addition to the shopping experience. It really changes how you look at a piece when you know who made it and how it was created. I learned that Tensira’s designs originate from the Republic of Guinea, West Africa, and that all Tensira’s products are 100% cotton, hand-spun, hand-woven and hand-dyed in their workshops. The company's goal is to create long-lasting employment for West-African craft communities - how amazing is that? Needless to say, I just had to take this beautiful bag home! It now means even more to me knowing all the love and care that went into making it.
