Creating a Cozy Home
I've noticed that the word used most often to describe our home is, you guessed it, "cozy" - and I couldn't be happier about that. There are a lot of beautiful homes out there, designed to perfection with gorgeous furniture and decor, but I don't think that always translates to a cozy space. To me, cozy means a lot of things - something that is comfy, lived in, warm, relaxing, happy, has good vibes, and is a place you'd want to hang out and relax. Cozy is down to earth, maybe just a little messy, and doesn't take itself too seriously. I wanted to share some of my tips with you for creating an extra cozy space - it's actually very simple and easy to do! You just need a few key pieces, most of which you probably already have lying around, but when put together in a little nook or corner, magic can happen. Keep scrolling for all the tips, and scroll to the end to shop all the pieces you see here for yourself.
The Best Plant Shops in Los Angeles
It's officially summer and I don't know about you, but I'm ready to get my hands on some new plant bbs! You can never have too many, right? There's something so fun and exciting about going greenery shopping. Sometimes you go in with a particular plant in mind, but my favorite is when you enter a nursery just looking to browse, and then you spot that perfect bb you just have to take home with you. I've rounded up a few of my fave places to adopt planties in Los Angeles, in case you've been looking for new places to check out.
Moorten Botanical Garden
You guys, I finally made it to cactus heaven. I've been wanting to visit the magical Moorten Botanical Garden for a while now after seeing so many glorious photos on Instagram, and I have to say it's even more stunning in person! We were greeted by Clark Moorten when we arrived, the son of the garden's original creators and now the curator himself - he gave us a little map of the grounds and off we went!
Best Houseplants for New Plant Parents
It's hard to imagine, but there was once a time we had zero plants in our home! When we first moved into our place after I graduated college, I really wanted to get some plant babies of my own - but being a first time plant parent I was a little afraid to bite the bullet. What if I killed them? I'd feel awful, not to mention it would be money down the drain.
March Cocktail: Minty Pear Mojito
Woohoo St. Patrick's Day! Gotta love a day where the color of choice is green. So obvi I wanted to make a green cocktail to celebrate the day, but I wanted it to still be light and fresh, unlike some other drinks of choice on St. Paddy's (I'm lookin at you, green beer :P).
Bringing Home New Greens
I'm so so soooo happy it's been warming up in LA lately - looks like our chilly rainy winter is almost over! Which means I can finally set up and enjoy our lil jungle balcony again. If you haven't read my Boho Balcony post, you can check it out HERE to see how I revamped the space last year. I really love it because it feels like an additional room in our apartment!
