Friendsgiving 2017

Eddie and I hosted our 2nd annual Friendsgiving celebration over the weekend, this time packing 10 people into our lil living room! We had so much fun, and it never felt too crowded - just super cozy, lots of floor pillow loungin'. This year I was super low key with the planning of the table setting. Whereas last year I went out and bought lots of new things (glasses, plates, table runner, punch bowl, candlesticks, etc), this year I didn't buy a single thing other than flowers. I've been trying to declutter our space, and am starting to be really picky about what I bring into our apartment - with a 700 square foot space, there's really no room for random or surplus items that aren't going to be used regularly. I also just recently donated an entire car's worth of things we weren't using anymore to our local Goodwill, and I still have more closets to clear out - eek! So this year I reused a lot of things from last Friendsgiving, but changed a few key elements so that the table still felt new and fresh.

Black & Blooms Turns 1

It's bonkers to me that yesterday was the one year anniversary of when I set Black & Blooms live. What started as just a lil creative outlet and simply a way to get my photos off my computer and out into the world, has turned into this amazing community where I've met some of the most talented individuals, many of whom are now good friends. The past year has had its ups and downs as I've navigated this blogging world that I really had zero clue about starting out - mostly ups though, and it's all thanks to people like you, who take time out of your day to follow along and read my posts or follow my journey on Instagram, always leaving me the sweetest messages and making me feel so supported - I'm very thankful to you for that! I wanted to share a few things I've learned this past year, and tips for anyone who's been thinking of starting their own blog.

Pumpkin Pickin at Mr. Bones

Pink pumpkins are a real thing and I'm HERE for it! Eddie and I went to the supes cute Mr. Bones for our pumpkins, located right near us here in Culver City. We went around dinner time on a week day which I would highly recommend - totally relaxed, not a lot of people. During the weekends I've heard it's packed to the gills. Plus, you have to pay an entry fee on the weekends - during the week it's free. Keep an eye peeled for celebs while you're there, it's a real hot spot in this town believe it or not! There's a lil petting zoo with baby goats, and lots of fun photo opps for the bbs (and adult bbs too) - I plan on going again this week and bringing my niece with me!

The New Bohemians Handbook

Wowza, I can't believe this week has finally arrived! Queen of The Jungalow, boho goddess Justina Blakeney's new book The New Bohemians Handbook came out a couple days ago and our lil apartment is featured in it - say whaaaaat.  Eddie and I got to attend the book release party Tuesday evening at Living Spaces, and it was so fun to hear Justina speak and get to take a peak at her amazing furniture line.

Casa Joshua Tree

One of the reasons I love the Instagram community so much is it gives you the opportunity to meet some of the most amazing, talented people. Lindsay Hollinger is one of them! We met on the app a while back and I'm so happy to now call her a friend. As an artist and designer living in Joshua Tree, Lindsay has transformed her home into a dreamy desert paradise - it's literally swoon worthy. Eddie and I had the pleasure of visiting Lindsay at her Casa Joshua Tree during our JT trip for a little happy hour out on her recently re-designed, ridiculously beautiful patio. Wine, snacks, and lots of laughs made for such a fun time, and Lindsay was nice enough to let me snap a bunch of pics of her gorge space. Keep scrolling to see all the magic.

Desert Vibes in Joshua Tree

Eddie and I took a long overdue trip to the desert last week to relax, recharge, and celebrate our 6 year anniversary (where does the time go?!). We'd been to Joshua Tree a few years ago to camp with friends, but it was only for a night and we definitely didn't experience it fully. I've been wanting to return to really explore the town ever since then, and I'm so glad we finally were able to. With JT only being around a 2 and half hour drive from Los Angeles, it really is the perf place to escape to when you need a breather from LA life. Come take a little tour with me of where we stayed and what we did while we were in this desert paradise.
